$5 MP3 Album Deal: The Beach Boys’ ‘Pet Sounds’
Stoogeypedia   |

The Beach Boys Pet Sounds

One of the most influential and acclaimed records of all time, Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is on sale on MP3 format for only $5.00 on Amazon this month.

The Beach Boys were and are still best known as a pop/light surf group rich in melody, harmony, and presenting California as a place of idyllic hedonism in the most innocuous way. They raised their previous knack for churning out simply catchy singles which became hits on a pace with their fellow stateside Capitol Records mates The Beatles to a whole other level with the 1966 release of Pet Sounds.

This amazingly seminal release, which predated and was even largely responsible for another album which also changed the face of modern music, The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, experimented in sounds and styles of production not seen or heard before it. Spearheaded largely by Brian Wilson, the madcap genius and leader of the group who has written some of America’s most well known pop songs via The Beach Boys and is considered by many to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time, composed most of and solely produced Pet Sounds.

The album spawned the beautiful and haunting tracks such as “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” “Caroline, No,” and especially “God Only Knows,” which still stands as one of the most well-realized and beautiful pop songs ever made. Artists ranging from Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters to Bob Dylan to Elton John, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, and The Who’s Peter Townshend among so many others, have considered Pet Sounds to be a true turning point for them, an absolute knock out record release.

For only $5.00 this month, come relive a classic in digital format, or discover a true American masterpiece in every sense of the word for the first time. While it may be true that most of the work by The Beach Boys can bring quick scoffs at its obviousness of simple pop music, Pet Sounds gave the band a singular spotlight, which rose them and the release like a helium balloon into the highest nether regions of all time musical status.
