With Thor 2 scheduled to begin filming later this year, the cast and crew are getting ready for another go around in Asgard and on Midgard.
Unfortunately audiences won’t be seeing an exciting villain prospect. Sources have confirmed that Mads Mikkelsen, once thought to be joining Thor 2 as an antagonist, will now not be playing as the villain of the film. Due to his commitment to the new Silence of the Lambs TV series on NBC, Mikkelsen had to pull himself out of the project.
Now we weren’t sure who Mikkelsen would be playing, but his cold presence was more than enough to earn him the role of the villain.
Occasional Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor will be helming the sequel that could see Thor (Chris Hemsworth) traveling beyond Asgard and Earth. Marvel President Kevin Feige stated that Thor 2 would be exploring more realms than the first film did and there would be a major villain in the film.
Since nothing was filmed, Feige could shed some light on what the future holds for Thor 2 and maybe the rest of Marvel Cinematic Universe as well. Then again he could just talk about Iron Man 3 and Guardians of the Universe, but I’d like to think he has something that will surprise Comic-Con attendees this weekend.
Now that Mikkelsen is gone, who would you like to see play as the villain?
