Another big name is joining the cast of Spike Lee‘s American remake of the brilliant South Korean drama, Oldboy. According to sources, Samuel L. Jackson has been confirmed for a small role in the movie.

Oldboy follows a man (Josh Brolin) who’s kidnapped, held captive for 15 years, and framed for the murder of his wife without any explanation as to why this was being done to him. One day he’s released suddenly with just a few items, setting him off on his quest to find answers…and bloody revenge.

Jackson will play a man who’s tortured by Brolin’s character on his path to revenge. In the original, the character’s teeth were removed one at a time with the claw end of a hammer, but Lee will use a different (but supposedly just as brutal) form of torture in his version.

In addition to the Jackson casting, it’s being reported that Bruce Hornsby, the multi-genre recording artist behind songs like “Way It Is” and “Every Little Kiss,” will be composing the score for Oldboy.
