The Jack Ryan reboot is all ready to go. Kenneth Branagh will direct the film and be the villain as well; it’s got Chris Pine as the lead actor; Keira Knightley as the lead actress; and now the film has a tentative release date.
Paramount even has plans to make Jack Ryan (which is also the title of the film) into a trilogy. Oh yeah, there’s also a spin off titled Without Remorse, and the studio is trying to court Tom Hardy for the lead role. So to say that Paramount has some big plans for Jack Ryan would be an understatement.
Okay, so we know most of the key players, we know that the film will feature a much younger Jack Ryan trying to stop the Russians from devaluing the U.S. Economy, and we finally know that the film is planned for a late 2013 release. But Deadline confirms earlier reports that Without Remorse, the Jack Ryan spin off movie, will tie in to the Jack Ryan universe. Basically Paramount is trying to set up its very own spy-themed Cinematic Universe, involving the character that Tom Clancy created. Kevin Costner will play the one character that ties Jack Ryan and Without Remorse together.
We’ll have to see how all of this turns out, but if things go exactly as planned; we could be seeing the studio expand the Jack Ryan cinematic universe.
Do you like where Paramount is taking the Jack Ryan character? Would you like to see a spy-themed cinematic universe?
