News on director Patty Jenkins‘ Wonder Woman 1984, one again starring Gal Gadot in the title role, has been low ever since it ended production and had a tiny preview at CinemaCon. Though very little is known about the upcoming sequel, we know that it will take audiences back to a different time period and see Wonder Woman go up against Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) at the height of the Cold War. There are other characters to consider, as well. Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor, and Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Hippolyta. And now we are learning about the character Pedro Pascal is playing.
It has been confirmed that Pascal will be playing Maxwell Lord, a villainous businessman with telepathic persuasion powers. More on the report below.
Jenkins took to Twitter to reveal that Pascal would be playing Maxwell Lord a successful businessman and head of the Chimtech Consortium. Though he appears to be a normal person on the outside, he has powers that make him very formidable. His powers allow him to telepathically influence people’s minds. He soon learns how to extend this power to those with extraordinary abilities like Superman. This made him such a threat that once he had a mental grip on Superman, Wonder Woman was forced to kill him after questioning him under the Lasso of Truth confirmed that his death was the only way to free him.
Maxwell’s other aliases have included Black King and Lord Havok.
It will be interesting to see how mind control powers will come into play when it is used on Wonder Woman. Will it work? that remains to be seen. And there really isn’t much else to say since we still know very little about the upcoming sequel. That being said, we will continue to report on it as soon as new developments come in.
