The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Directed by Matt Shakman
Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, Julia Garner, Ralph Ineson
Marvel Studios
Release date: July 25, 2025 Non-spoiler first thoughts (mostly written in the car on the way home from the movie theater) on The Fantastic Four: First Steps: Marvel Studios churned out an enjoyable film that does justice to these classic characters, making them all likable and competent. I love the film’s retro-futuristic look (not a cell phone in sight) and color scheme. While this is the “first steps,” it’s not an origin story, with the groups’ superpowered circumstances summed up quickly at the start on the team’s anniversary. This allows the danger to present right away and the action to get going fast.

This is a pretty big week for Disney. The entertainment giant launched Disney+, their exclusive streaming service, nationwide yesterday. Of course, we all know how subscribers have access to nearly the entire Disney vault. But there is also some original content to look forward to. Like The Mandalorian. The highly anticipated series made its debut to coincide with the launch. And yet, if you are still not a subscriber or are not convinced to be one, maybe a clip from the series will change your mind. Pulled from the series’ first episode, the clip shows the titular character (Pedro Pascal) meet The Client (Werner Herzog), a man who is in need of his services for some unknown reason. He is also someone who has a very intimidating presence, and is guarded by a small group of Stormtroopers, who are armed to the teeth. Not that scares our anti-hero. Check out the clip below, along with a recently released special look video.

| ‘Wonder Woman 1984’: Pedro Pascal To Play Villainous Businessman Maxwell Lord
News on director Patty Jenkins‘ Wonder Woman 1984, one again starring Gal Gadot in the title role, has been low ever since it ended production and had a tiny preview at CinemaCon. Though very little is known about the upcoming sequel, we know that it will take audiences back to a different time period and see Wonder Woman go up against Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) at the height of the Cold War. There are other characters to consider, as well. Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor, and Connie Nielsen reprises her role as Hippolyta. And now we are learning about the character Pedro Pascal is playing. It has been confirmed that Pascal will be playing Maxwell Lord, a villainous businessman with telepathic persuasion powers. More on the report below.

| D23 Expo 2019: ‘The Mandalorian’ Trailer: Bounty Hunting Is A Complicated Profession
There has never been live-action Star Wars television series. But come November, that will all change when The Mandalorian will debut along with a number of other original shows on Disney+, Disney’s exclusive streaming service. This will be one of Disney’s flagship shows that can only be seen on Disney+, and the studio hopes to use all of that anticipation and excitement to draw subscribers to their service. Star Wars fans got a first look at The Mandalorian earlier this year when showrunner and executive producer Jon Favreau presented some footage and shared some info about the show. Now he’s back, with the debut of the teaser trailer; plus, and he brought along some of the cast to the D23 Expo today to show off what they can expect to see. Watch the teaser trailer here below.
