There is a stone cold presence that Michael Shannon brings whenever he appears on screen and he is going to live up to that when he plays has titular character in Ariel Vromen’s The Iceman. Check out the first trailer for the film below.
This trailer isn’t for any one with a weak stomach, so if you are a bit squeamish when it comes to blood, then this isn’t for you. But for those who are brave to see brutal violence then you might want to check out this movie.
The Iceman is based on the true story of Richard Kuklinski, a dedicated father and husband who makes extra cash acting as a hit man for the mob (read more about the man here). However his unwillingness to kill women and children reveals he has a weak point and once the mob discovers that he is performing hits not requested by the mob, he and his family become targets.
The film also stars Chris Evans, who plays as an ice cream truck delivery man who has a special knack for hacking bodies into pieces and putting them in cold storage. Ray Liotta will play the man who gives Kuklinski his marks, while James Franco, David Schwimmer, and Stephen Dorff provide supporting roles.
Looking at the trailer, this is a definite departure from what we normally see Evans do. Same goes for Schwimmer, whom we haven’t seen for a very long time. If anything, those are the two performances I am looking most forward to watching. The film will be released at the Toronto International Film Festival and has already made its way onto screens in Venice.
No word yet on when The Iceman could hit U.S. theaters.
Also unknown is the status of another Kuklinski movie that had been in the works starring Mickey Rourke in the lead role.
