Many of you may have read Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan‘s trilogy of vampire horror novels, which began with The Strain back in 2009 and was followed by The Fall in 2010 and The Night Eternal in 2011.
Considering del Toro’s strong background in film and his dabbling in TV and video games and pretty much all forms of entertainment, it was safe to assume that the books would eventually come to life via adaptation at some point.
Now comes word that the FX network is near a deal that would see a pilot made based on The Strain.
The pilot will be scripted by del Toro and Hogan with LOST co-showrunner Carlton Cuse attached to help to develop it and act as showrunner and executive producer if the show gets picked up as a full series.
The books tell the story of a CDC doctor and his team who are seeking answers for a vampire outbreak in New York City before it’s too late.
The thought of a new horror series from the brain of Guillermo del Toro is quite exciting, but, as is the case with most TV shows, we’ll have to wait and see if it goes beyond just a pilot or not.
What do you think of The Strain possibly coming to FX?
