Well, folks…this is actually happening.
Remember back when we found out about the “this has to be a joke, right?” sequel to the 1988 comedy Twins, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito as polar opposite twin brothers, in which Eddie Murphy would star as a third brother?
It sounded like a bad April Fools joke at the time, but, as it turns out, the movie, which will be titled Triplets, is very real. A pair of writers have signed on to pen the script, and things are moving forward.
According to reports, the script will be written by Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon. Gad is best known for his acting, starring in Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s hit Broadway production, The Book of Mormon, as well as Love and Other Drugs and The Rocker. Dixon oversees operations for ScriptShark, a screenwriting analysis company, but this will be his first feature writing job. The duo will work on a treatment together, with Dixon going back after to polish things up.
So now that we know Triplets wasn’t just a joke among Hollywood types, will it actually be worth seeing? It sounds like something that could be absurd enough to score some laughs, but it really depends on how they approach making it.

The first film is a classic in its own right; a highlight in both actors’ careers. I’m actually looking forward to this. But then again, I am a Schwarzenegger fan.
