Rabid movie geeks will be getting a nifty present this year when Django Unchained, the latest action epic from director Quentin Tarantino, opens on Christmas Day. Not much else is needed to sell people on this movie; if you are anything like me you will have already made plans to go see it on the 25th right after you enjoy Christmas dinner, exchanging presents, and the traditional drinking contest and arm wrestling match with your grandma Freida.
Nonetheless, a new trailer is out today that’s light on plot and heavy on action. Plus we have the track listing and ordering info for the Django Unchained soundtrack album.
You can check out the trailer and the soundtrack info here below.
Whenever a new Tarantino movie is approaching release I only have one question: “Where’s the soundtrack?!”
Tarantino’s movies, regardless of their overall quality, always had supremely cool soundtracks. When he announced he was making Django Unchained, an old-school spaghetti western with that distinct Q.T. twist, I knew right away we would be seeing some classic Italian western music on the soundtrack. Sure enough the track listing for the Django Unchained album is thick with classic spaghetti western score selections from composers such as Luis Bacalov, Riz Ortolani, and of course Il Maestro himself, the great Ennio Morricone. Tarantino chose some terrific musical selections from the soundtracks to films like the original Django, Day of Anger, and Two Mules for Sister Sara, along with new music from Morricone, rapper Rick Ross (whose track “100 Black Coffins” is featured in the new trailer), Anthony Hamilton, and John Legend.
Along with the track listing I have included links to videos and audio of some of the vintage music pieces from the soundtrack.
