Sibling producers Megan Ellison and David Ellison recently joined forces through her Annapurna Pictures and his Skydance Pictures on their road to making Terminator 5 a reality.
The next task for the duo was finding and hiring a writer to get to work on the screenplay for the movie, which they’ve now accomplished. In fact, they’ve found a pair of writers for the job in Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.
Kalogridis has previously worked on the scripts for Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island, Night Watch, Alexander, and Pathfinder. Lussier has previously worked on the scripts for Dracula 2000 (and its two direct-to-video sequels) and the Nic Cage flick Drive Angry.
Nothing is known yet about where the new installment in the franchise will take us as far as story, but diehard fans will be elated to know that Megan Ellison made it abundantly clear last year that the new movie will come with that badge of honor R-rating “as God and James Cameron intended,” as she so perfectly put it.
Any hope for Terminator 5 salvaging the franchise?
