Universal Pictures’ gasoline and testosterone-powered franchise is back for another spin around the box office track this summer. Fast & Furious 6 now has a new TV spot that premiered during tonight’s Super Bowl as well as a teaser poster.

When the Fast & Furious series changed its focus from excessive brooding and street racing to all-out action and high-speed heists it got a creative shot of adrenaline right straight to its eyeballs. Adding Dwayne Johnson to the mix as a take-no-prisoners federal agent who throws himself into his work a bit too literally helped a lot too. The characters got cooler, the action sequences elaborate and exciting, and suddenly a franchise that seemed destined to be a passing fad of the first decade of the 21st century got bigger and better than ever before.

For Fast & Furious 6 our heroes Dom (Vin Diesel) and Brian (Paul Walker) must gather their team together to help Johnson’s bald and burly Fed Hobbs take down a crew of international mercenaries lead by Luke Evans and aided by Dom’s old flame Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), who has been long thought dead. Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, and Ludacris are all back for the fun. Gina Carano is new to the mix. The bad guys have a tank. It crushes other vehicles real good.

Justin Lin is back behind the camera directing his fourth entry in the series, as is screenwriter Chris Morgan, also on his fourth Fast & Furious flick.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. And I really need to see Fast Five now.

Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters at full speed on Memorial Day, May 24, 2013.
