Though it has been nine long years since the last Riddick movie hit theaters, star Vin Diesel felt that there were still a few more stories to tell about the infamous antihero with the ability to kill his enemies in a number of ways. Now, a new live-action Riddick film, simply titled Riddick, will hit theaters this September, and the first teaser for the film has arrived online.

There isn’t too much in terms of plot reveals in this trailer. From the trailer’s few precious seconds of dialogue we get, as well as the official synopsis, we find that Riddick is imprisoned on an desolate island which is inhabited by fearsome creatures and equally fearsome bounty hunters out for his head.
Regardless of how much was or was not revealed, this is the kind of trailer that Riddick fans have been waiting for. No more animated films, no more video games – fans have finally gotten their live-action Riddick film.
Here’s the synopsis:
Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction.

Directed by Dave Twohy, Riddick opens in theaters on September 6, 2013.
