Production for the Anthony and Joe Russo-directed Captain America: The Winter Soldier should begin in a few months for an April 2014 release, but the casting process for the film isn’t quite completed yet. Last weekend, we learned that Robert Redford was in talks to play a senior agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and now the film is adding one of the greatest fighters to date.
Latino Review reports that George St-Pierre has been added to the cast of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. According to the site, he will play a villain named Batroc the Leaper. Though Batroc has no extraordinary superhuman abilities, but he is in peak physical condition, especially in his lower extremities which gives him the ability to leap great distances. In addition to his leaping skills, he is an expert hand-to-hand combatant and specializes in savate (French-style kickboxing). He is also a skilled military tactician, having formerly been in the French Foreign Legion.
Batroc is also an experienced thief and smuggler, who speaks fluent French and English. Although, as a mercenary, he does not hesitate to perform any number of criminal acts for his clients, Batroc has, by his own rights, a strong sense of honor, and he will turn against any client whom he feels has unfairly deceived him into committing crimes to which he might not otherwise have agreed.
Scouring a few images for Batroc, I can’t imagine anyone else besides a UFC fighter being cast as Batroc. There are a lot of images of him locking his opponents in a hold with his legs, and he looks like he can hold his own against Cap.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier also stars Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp, and the possibility of a Hayley Atwell cameo.
Have you ever even read a comic book, Mike? If you are over the age of 18 and have read even one Marvel comic then it would be apparent that Batroc was GAY.
I don’t mean homosexual but rather so happy that he was a high mobility intellectual retard. And Savate? Useless. As a practicing martial artist who has competed on four continents in no holds barred fighting; I can tell you it doesn’t work. Gerard Gordeau was the only savateur ruthless and quick enough to have any success.
G.S.P is now eligible to be in the Expendables 3: Fury of the Bedpans.
