One of the best parts about Assassin’s Creed III, a game that reignited a stale franchise for many (myself included), was of course the naval battles, which were absurdly entertaining. These naval missions required you to go to the dock, choose which mission you wanted to do, and wait while it loaded. This was entirely understandable, as you can’t just jump from a massive open world map onto a boat and start exploring a massive open-world sea. Consoles simply don’t have that kind of power, at least this generation of consoles anyway…right? Incorrect!
We saw the first gameplay demo for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at E3, and while it looks like a dream game for fans of the pirate sub-genre (once again, myself included), the most impressive part of the demo was seeing your character, Edward Kenway (father to Haytham Kenway and grandfather to Connor Kenway from AC3) transition seamlessly from land to sea.
Now comes a new 13-minute gameplay demo that really shows off your ability to explore the world of Black Flag, including these transitions from land to sea. You can check it out below!
The new demo looks at some of the side quests you can take on such as assassination contracts and searching for buried treasure, your ship the Jackdaw and how important it is to the game, and the many options that come with being a pirate, such as taking over ships and acquiring its cargo, recruiting its crew, adding the ship to your fleet (or using it to repair your own ship), and so on.
Once again it looks like there will be tons to do in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. What do you think?
