One of the best parts about Assassin’s Creed III, a game that reignited a stale franchise for many (myself included), was of course the naval battles, which were absurdly entertaining. These naval missions required you to go to the dock, choose which mission you wanted to do, and wait while it loaded. This was entirely understandable, as you can’t just jump from a massive open world map onto a boat and start exploring a massive open-world sea. Consoles simply don’t have that kind of power, at least this generation of consoles anyway…right? Incorrect!
We saw the first gameplay demo for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag at E3, and while it looks like a dream game for fans of the pirate sub-genre (once again, myself included), the most impressive part of the demo was seeing your character, Edward Kenway (father to Haytham Kenway and grandfather to Connor Kenway from AC3) transition seamlessly from land to sea.
