Just when you thought the Star Wars: Episode VII rumor mill is stopped in its tracks, a new one pops up and continues the grind. Although it may not be about any of the cast members returning to reprise their respective roles. This time the rumor is about new talent joining the cast, and they are some pretty big A-list names to say the least.
While filming has yet to begin, there are rumors that Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling are in talks to join the cast of the highly anticipated film.
LatinoReview reports that Efron auditioned for an unknown role, while Gosling is rumored to be in the running for the role of Luke Skywalker’s son. A bit contradictory since screenwriter Michael Ardnt (Toy Story 3 and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) has said that Episode VII would be a completely original story. Not only that, but the site says that the film will take place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
And if that wasn’t enough from the rumor mill, the same report mentions that Leonardo DiCaprio was up for a role in Star Wars, but had to pass it up because he is circling an adaptation of the widely successful anime Robotech.
While all of this is just rumor and speculation, we can expect to hear some more solid and significant when some big Episode VII announcements are made at the D23 Expo rolls in early next month.
Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for a 2015 release.
So what are your thoughts on these rumors? What do you think about DiCaprio passing on the role?
