Casting for director Ridley Scott‘s next project, the biblical epic Exodus—a new take on the story of Moses—is coming together quickly. We recently found out that Zero Dark Thirty and The Great Gatsby star Joel Edgerton had been cast as Ramses, joining Christian Bale, who leads the way as Moses.
Now comes word of four more actors ready to join the cast. The parents of Edgerton’s Ramses are locked in with Sigourney Weaver set to play his mother, Tuya, and John Turturro set to play his father, Seti. Additionally, Ben Kingsley and Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul are in talks for the movie. Kingsley would play a Hebrew scholar, while Paul would play Joshua, a Hebrew slave who leads the people into the promised land after Moses.
Academy Award-winning Schindler’s List screenwriter Steve Zaillian was brought in to work on Exodus. He was also nominated for a trio of Oscars for Awakenings, Gangs of New York, and Moneyball.
The hope is to begin production on the 20th Century Fox title sometime soon, possibly next month if all continues to go well.
