Given that Superman (Henry Cavill) developed a romantic interest with Lois Lane (Amy Adams), the hero created a less than super and more human identity to get closer to her. Now that Batman is in the picture in the Man of Steel sequel, and Ben Affleckis confirmed to play an older version of the Caped Crusader, it is assumed that Bruce Wayne would be vying for Lois’ attention. But a casting call reveals quite the opposite.
Latino Review is reporting that Batman/Bruce Wayne will have his own love interest in the sequel, giving us a slight indication that this movie is actually bigger than we originally thought. Hit the jump for more.
Here is how the site describes what Snyder is looking for:
They’re looking for someone in their late 20s and are open to all ethnicities”¦. They’re being very specific and looking for an actress who is both tall and possesses physicality.
Well Bruce doesn’t look like he’s lost his game while moonlighting as Batman. Affleck stands at 6’4″, so casting an actress who is just as tall or slightly shorter will be a tall order – yeah I went there.
On the outside it seemed like the Man of Steel sequel was going to feature Batman as some sort of second tier character. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Batman is getting his own love interest in the sequel, which means there will be more screen time dedicated to Batman than originally anticipated.
The casting call doesn’t specifically say what character the actresses will be auditioning for, but some are saying that it would be for either Vicky Vale or Wonder Woman, the latter of which would be a huge curve ball and one step closer to seeing more DC Comics heroes in one movie.
20-something love interest. Oh yes, that’s perfect for Ben Affleck. Or any man in his 40s. I’m just disappointed Miley Cyrus may be too young for the role.
