Marvel one-shots are a special kind of extra feature on Blu-rays and DVDs. Item 47 was the first of its kind, where a live-action short was directly tied into the cinematic mythology. As a result of its success, Item 47 led to the development of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Now another very well-received short is getting developed for a television series.
Deadline reports that Marvel is greenlighting an Agent Carter TV series based on the character seen in Captain America: The First Avenger and the Marvel one-shot of the same name. The one-shot followed Cap’s love interest as a secret agent, one year after the events of The First Avenger. The feature can be seen on upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release of Iron Man 3.
Marvel is now in the process of recruiting writers to pen this TV series, and there is no confirmation that Atwell would return to reprise her role as Agent Carter. How far an Agent Carter series goes into development will depend on how successful Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. does.
This is a great move for both the network and the studio itself. For one thing, it just adds another potentially high-rated show that features a strong female character as its lead. It also expands the Marvel Universe to the smaller screen by focusing on their fan-favorite characters. Just don’t hold your breath on Marvel breaking into comedy by developing a TV series based on Darcy.

I hope Attwell comes back for the series. She’s a big part of what makes Agent Carter work.
