At this point we should just start throwing darts at names and just say the person is attached to Star Wars: Episode VII. Despite the many casting rumors so far, not one of them have panned out, but that also doesn’t mean they are completely false. Many actors are considered for roles before one is officially chosen.
According to LatinoReview, the camp that’s reported most of the Star Wars rumors, Saoirse Ronan is the most recent name who has reportedly read for a role in the J.J. Abrams-directed film. The site is also reporting that one of the previously rumored names to be attached to Episode VII, has reemerged, despite repeated denials. More on that later.
It’s not clear what Ronan went in to read for, but it’s likely that she read for the part of Han Solo’s daughter. There are also unconfirmed reports that Episode VII will have a female villain. All this Ronan news comes after the actress pulled herself out of the running for Wanda Maximoff, The Scarlet Witch, in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.
As previously reported, Benedict Cumberbatch was in talks to appear in an unknown role, which was then later debunked by the actor and his reps. At first that seemed to be the final nail in the coffin, but Cumberbatch’s name has reemerged once more. Not only is the actor reportedly attached for one film, but he is signed on for all three. While his role in the film is unknown, the actor will reportedly have a small role in Episode VII, which will expand in Episode VIII and Episode IX.
Despite what Cumberbatch may tell us, denials are just something we should be accustomed to when it comes to an Abrams-directed project or something as highly anticipated as Star Wars.
According to the outline I read, Luke’s daughter is the villain and Han and Leia’s daughter shacks up with Tarkin’s grandson. Cumberbatch could be up for that. Is British, looks like he could be Peter Cushing’s descendant. Fits nicely.

Don’t hold your breath about the lightsaber. If she’s daddy’s girl, she’ll be wielding a good blaster.

Hmm… As far as female villains in the Star Wars Universe, it would be cool to see Mara Jade be evil in Ep. VII, and then floundering in VIII, and then solidly good in IX!
