Dawn of the Dead
“When there’s no more room in Hell, the dead will walk the Earth.”
Following the scenario of Night of the Living Dead, the United States is completely devastated by a phenomenon which reanimates recently deceased human beings as flesh-eating zombies.
Despite efforts by the U.S. Government and local authorities to control the situation, society has collapsed and cities have been abandoned, overrun by hordes of the undead. Directed by George Romero in 1978, Dawn of the Dead features a small group of survivors from Philadelphia who escape the city and barricade themselves inside a shopping mall to battle the flesh-eating zombies in a mecca of consumerism.

“Mists gather here… and sea fog… and eerie stories…”
In 1937, London music critic and composer Roderick “Rick” Fitzgerald (Ray Milland) and his sister Pamela (Ruth Hussey) fall in love with Windward House, an abandoned seaside house, during a holiday on England’s rocky coast. They purchase it for an unusually low price from Commander Beech (Donald Crisp).
The Fitzgeralds’ initial enchantment with the house diminishes when they unlock an artist’s studio where they feel an inexplicable chill. Rick hears the eerie sobs of an unseen woman and soon the couple learns of the seaside mansion’s unsavory past.

“May the Lord forgive us for what we’ve done.”
The small coastal town of Antonio Bay is about to celebrate its centennial. With preparations for the celebration underway, the centennial is also marked by a series of ominous events; as the witching hour strikes and the date of the town’s centennial begins, the sleepy little town is blanketed in a strange, glowing fog, bringing with it the zombie-like ghosts of mariners seeking revenge for their deaths.
The Fog was director John Carpenter‘s first feature film after the success of his 1978 horror classic Halloween and continued his working relationship with Jamie Lee Curtis, who plays Elizabeth Solley, a young female hitchhiker who ends up in Antonio Bay.
Curtis is joined by the legendary Tom Atkins (Halloween III: Season of the Witch, Escape from New York) and a great cast that features Adrienne Barbeau, John Houseman, Janet Leigh, and Hal Holbrook.

“You can’t tame what’s meant to be wild, doc. It just ain’t natural.”
Directed by Joe Dante (Rock “˜n’ Roll High School, Gremlins), The Howling is a 1981 horror film written by John Sayles and Terence H. Winkless with original music composed by Pino Donaggio.
The Howling stars Dee Wallace (E.T., Critters, Cujo) as Karen White, a Los Angeles television news anchor. Karen, along with her husband, Bill (Christopher Stone), journey to “The Colony,” a secluded resort in the countryside.
The Colony is filled with all kinds of strange characters, including a seductive nymphomaniac named Marsha (Elisabeth Brooks), who tries to seduce Bill. When he resists her less-than-subtle sexual advances, he is attacked and bitten by a wolf-like creature on the way back to his cabin.
He later returns to the forest only to find Marsha waiting for him. The two have sex by the campfire in the moonlight and, mid-coitus, the lovers shapeshift into goddamn werewolves. That’s right, you heard me, GODDAMN WEREWOLVES.

Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter
“Come on, Sara. Strip and dip.”
After being mortally wounded and taken to the morgue, murderer Jason Voorhees is resurrected and embarks on a killing spree as he makes his way back to Camp Crystal Lake.
The Jarvis family, who lives on the lake, includes Mrs. Jarvis (Joan Freeman), her teenage daughter Trish (Kimberly Beck), her preteen son Tommy (Corey Feldman), and their dog Gordon.
Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is my favorite Friday the 13th film because Voorhees finally finds a formidable foe in young Tommy Jarvis, a little kid obsessed with monsters and the makeup effects of Tom Savini. Most slasher films feature a “Final Girl” – a virginal teenage girl who defeats the psycho killer, but here it’s a little boy whose knowledge of monsters gives him the upper hand in fighting monsters.
