So yesterday you might have heard that Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Paul Rudd, and a possible third mystery man were in the running to be Hank Pym in Edgar Wright‘s Ant-Man. Depending on who you ask and how Wright wants to envision the multi-size hero, it could be either one of the two that are known. Now the shortlist has gotten even shorter as Gordon-Levitt has addressed these rumors and has officially taken himself out of the running.
While on his international Don Jon press tour, AlloCine asked Gordon-Levitt about the possible Ant-Man casting. His answer is quite frank. Hit the jump to see what he said.
Thanks to The Playlist for the translation.
“There are always rumors. I talk a lot about my future projects, so if you haven’t heard me talk about it, it means it’s nothing but a rumor. People like to write about [rumors].”
The actor also added that reports of his having passed auditions or screen tests for Ant-Man were “nothing but lies.”
Well now that we can cross out Gordon-Levitt’s name from the list, we might have to consider that Rudd may actually be Ant-Man. Of course there is that third name that Marvel is looking for. There is also the possibility that the studio might want to test a few more actors before making a final decision. Until there it’s this game of who is going to play who in the next Marvel film. Before you know it, we think we know who is going to get confirmed, a completely out of left field decision is made that will pretty much surprise everyone.
Ant-Man doesn’t officially start shooting until early next year for a July 31, 2015 release, so it should be interesting to see what kind of names pop up.
