Confused? Well you are probably not the only one. Yesterday we reported that Evil Dead remake writer Rodo Sayagues and director Fede Alvarez had not been working on Evil Dead 2 for months. But it was strange that this bit of news didn’t make it into the Hollywood trades. Well there is a reason for that.
Alverez took to twitter to say that we shouldn’t believe everything that is said on the internet – and we all know how the internet can blow things out of proportion.
Also, in an interview with Bloody Disgusting, the director clarified what Sayagues said yesterday and chalked up the writer’s statement to something being lost in translation. According to Alvarez, Evil Dead 2 is very much alive, but the priority is Sam Raimi‘s Army of Darkness 2.
If we are to believe the rumors that they want to merge the two Evil Dead franchises into one universe, it wouldn’t really be that hard to work on both projects simultaneously. Despite what some may say about the new Evil Dead, the two series are different from each other. That being said, Alvarez says Evil Dead 2 is alive. But to others, it looks like it’s in coma.
