Fans of king of the zombies George A. Romero‘s 1985 undead favorite Day of the Dead probably weren’t huge fans of the remake that was released in 2008. Now, only five years later, another remake is in development.
The new take is being developed by new genre production company Vicarious Entertainment, which comes from Paris Kasidokostas-Latsis and Terry Dougas of 1821 Pictures, who was behind the oft-troubled Natalie Portman project Jane Got A Gun and who are developing the strange take on Homer’s The Odyssey set in space that once had Brad Pitt and George Miller attached.
Of the announcement, Dougas said:
“Our goal is for Vicarious to be a premiere destination that excites creators from all over the world. We are giving them creative freedom and allowing them to showcase their strong vision and voice. There are great filmmakers out there and appetite for the genre so it’s a great time for us to be launching.”
Nothing else is known in regard to how similar to Romero’s original Day of the Dead the new remake will be, or when we might get to see it.
