New ‘Walking Dead’ TV Preview Photo Hints At Iconic Comic Book Moment

Season 4 of The Walking Dead is in full swing at the moment and things have not been going well for our ever-dwindling band of survivors. While the television show has been straying further and further from the storyline of its comic book roots for a while now, things have taken an interesting turn in the last few episodes. First, we got a quick glimpse of the return of one of most powerful characters on the show, followed by a show completely dedicated to them.
Now, a singular photo from a batch of preview images for this Sunday’s episode, titled “Dead Weight,” could hint at the show returning to one of the more unforgettable moments from the comic book universe.

The return of the Governor has long-been rumored, if not completely confirmed, to the world of The Walking Dead and the episodes from the past two weeks have shown that things could get very messy very soon for Rick and company with his arrival. Now, with an image released from MTV for the next episode, we can all but guarantee that total war is about to come to the prison.

Here we see David Morrissey sitting in thought next to a tank. Longtime readers of the comic will recall that the Governor lead a small army against the prison with a tank. That onslaught not only drove our survivors out of the prison and into the woods, but killed off several main characters. Could a similar battle, along with some shots ripped directly from the comic panels, be far behind for the show? We’ll find out what the future holds for those tank treads when “Dead Weight” airs this Sunday night at 9pm on AMC!
