First person shooters gives players the opportunity to respawn after they have been killed by another player. So it was only a matter of time before that concept was turned into a movie. In Edge Of Tomorrow, the new movie from Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith), Tom Cruise plays as a soldier with no formal training batting against aliens known as Mimics. The only problem is that he keeps on dying, and then gets revived the next day. Think of it as a intense and gritty version of Groundhog Day, without the humor. Emily Blunt also stars as a fellow soldier who is aware of their precarious situation and helps train Cruise to battle the aliens.
Warner Brothers has released the first trailer for the film, which you can watch below.
Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop””forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again”¦and again.
But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
Warner Bros. will release Edge of Tomorrow on June 6, 2014.

What I’m about to tell you sounds crazy, “Tom Cruise believes in Scientology”.
