Metal Masters 5 Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Pantera Members

The Metal Masters clinic held their annual concert on January 22, 2014 at the House Of Blues in Anaheim, CA, where members of metal giants like Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Pantera, and more shared the stage to play songs together from their respective back catalogs.

Pro-shot footage of the 3-hour headbanging event, Metal Masters 5, is now online and you can watch it here below.

Some of the songs played were Iron Maiden and KISS covers, but most were from the aforementioned bands, like Slayer’s “South Of Heaven” and “Raining Blood” and Pantera’s “I’m Broken,” “Strength Beyond Strength,” and “Mouth For War.” And the all-star jam finale? Pantera’s “Fucking Hostile,” sung by frontman Phil Anselmo and Testament’s Chuck Billy; a nice touch was seeing bass titan Billy Sheehan playing along on this one, and on Slayer’s “Mandatory Suicide” WITH the guys from Slayer. Too awesome.

Here’s a photo of the full set list with musicians, via Blabbermouth.

Metal Masters 5 set list 2014

Metal Masters 5 presented by Samson and Hartke, featured Philip Anselmo (Pantera/Down), Kerry King (Slayer), Gary Holt (Slayer/Exodus), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Scott Ian (Anthrax), David Ellefson (Megadeth), Chris Broderick (Megadeth), Billy Sheehan (Winery Dogs), Mike Portnoy (Winery Dogs), Rex Brown (Pantera/Kill Devil Hill), Chuck Billy (Testament), Steve Vai.

If you’re into metal and you dig these bands, it’s 100% worth watching the full concert – I’ve already done so three times and it never gets old. If you’re not so much into metal, then at least watch Billy Sheehan and guitarist Steve Vai do their typical stunning guitar and bass duo on “Shy Boy,” a song originally by Sheehan’s old band Talis which was later recorded by the two for David Lee Roth’s Eat ‘Em and Smile when they were part of the former Van Halen frontman’s solo band.
