MTV has been vying for the attention of the horror community with their scheduled transition and reboot of the Scream franchise into an ongoing television show and now it appears they are continuing that horror focus by green lighting the feature-length movie, The Dorm.
The movie will be directed by Rachel Talalay, who is no stranger to horror having directed the sixth Nightmare on Elm Street movie, Freddy’s Dead, and having a hand in producing several of the earlier Nightmare films. The Dorm was written by Sean Hood, whose horror credits include co-writing Halloween: Resurrection and writing Cube 2 and The Crow: Wicked Prayer.
The Dorm focuses on Vivian (Alexis Knapp, Pitch Perfect), an awkward college freshman who struggles with major self-esteem issues until Sarah (Cassie Steele, Degrassi) takes a liking to her and turns Vivian into her pet project. Under Sarah’s guidance, Vivian transforms into a flawless and seductive beauty.
The movie is set to begin shooting this month. No word yet as to when the film will be released.
