MTV’s Teen Wolf is entering its sixth and final season on Tuesday, November 15 and the cast held a panel today at New York Comic-Con, giving fans a sneak preview. The event, which took place at the Hammerstein Ballroom, featured main cast members Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Linden Ashby, Melissa Ponzio, and executive producer Jeff Davis.
Before the actors took the stage, the crowd was able to catch not only the season six trailer, but a sneak peak of the season as well. Check out the panel details here below, along with the video of the 8-minute sneak peek and photos of the stars.
Trailer
Stiles and Lydia are shown together in a car at nighttime. Stiles tells Lydia that he loves her and to always remember him. Immediately after, the door opens and he’s taken away by a creature in black. The rest of the trailer shows Stiles in an unknown, dark place with strange people; meanwhile, his friends, back in the real world, know that something is missing in their lives, but they don’t not know who or what. This idea is developed as Scott looks at a picture of him, Lydia and Malia, and an empty space where we know Stiles should be.
Sneak Peak
Here’s a recap of the Sneak Peek:
Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Hayden (Victoria Moroles) are stranded at nighttime with a flat tire. They’re still positive and enjoying each other’s company. Hayden shows off her abilities by lifting the car up before they realize they don’t have a spare. As they begin to kiss, a car shows up. They watch it slowly approach, unknowingly, as it comes to a complete stop after hitting a guardrail. They walk over to it slowly, and approach the window. The front window is totally smashed up. Liam opens the door but no one is in the front seat. As he reaches in, Liam sees someone in the rearview mirror. A young boy gets out, frightened and frantically saying, “don’t let them take me.”
The next scene shifts to a police scene. Sheriff Stilinski is speaking with Scott and Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) about why they felt the need to stop a certain vehicle. A cut scene shows Scott, full werewolf mode, on top of the windshield yelling at a driver to pull over. Back to the present, Stilinski tells the boys that the vehicle they stopped — which they had believed to have stolen something — had only stolen helium tanks. This brings us to a scene with Scott and Stiles in a car talking about how there aren’t any supernatural happenings in Beacon Falls, and that the town “doesn’t need us anymore.” Stiles then gets a call from his dad, which he shows to Scott and proclaims, “They need us!”
The boy from the first scene is at the police station with Stilinski. His parents are missing. Scott and Stiles are watching until Stilinski lets them come in. Scott says to the boy “We’re going to help you,” and then proceeds to dig his nails into the back of the boys’ neck. This brings us into the boys’ memory. He’s driving in the car with his parents as they come to a screeching halt. A man in all black (the same man from the trailer who takes Stiles) and on horseback stops their car, pulls a gun on the car, and shoots through the windshield. They try to drive away as he walks close but the car won’t move. He then pulls the screaming parents out of the car while the boy hides in the back. Scott comes back to reality and tells them what he saw. “I’ve got this feeling.” The boy interjects, “They’re coming back. They’re coming for me.”
Panel
It was quite an intense and engaging scene, and the audience was excited to have witnessed it firsthand! The cast then came on to the stage and began their question and answer session with the moderator.
Asking how Roden felt about Stiles putting his feelings into words, she said, “We don’t know who he’s talking to, really.” But Davis added, “We want to bring relationships together, and we want to give the fans what they want.”
Hennig was then asked about what she was looking forward to most about the new season. “I love working with Ian Bowen,” who plays the character of Peter Hale on the show, as well as Malia’s biological father. She’s hoping she’ll be able to work with him again.
Posey went on to talk about Scott’s struggle this season, and noted that “For Scott, it’s the possibility of not being able to hold the pack together — Scott feels once gain — why do I have to fail, constantly?” This comment was directed at Davis. He then added, “This is the last season we’ll fail, ever. Until the reunion panel.”
The moderator directed his next question to Ashby, asking if he felt like he was watching his kids grow up? Ashby said, “We always come back to the first table read. They were babies. It’s just been so great watching them grow up and become men.” Ponzio turned to Posey and added, “Our first day of work we sat across from each other and I thought ‘we were going to have so much fun,'” to which Posey quickly answered, “And I thought, ‘My mom is so hot!'” to much laughter from the audience.
On whether or not old cast members would return for the final season, the cast is hoping to have Tyler Hoechlin and Ian Bowen return this season, but that they also would love for other familiar faces to show up.
The moderator then shifted to a question that garnered quite the emotional response from Posey. “When did you all become aware that Teen Wolf had changed your life.” Tyler, already visibly shaken up, answered, “The second I met Dylan. The second I met all of these people. I didn’t go to college and this was like a first college-type experience. We had so much fun; so much fun.”
Ashby followed up by saying, “When I first got the script, I was like “˜Teen Wolf, really? There’s nothing new.’ Then I read the script and met the kids and had the finished product, and I knew we’d be around for awhile.” Hennig also responded to the question by noting that “I wasn’t there for season one, two, and half of three. I knew about the show’s success, but it can be difficult in Hollywood to find good people to work with, but that was the rumor about these guys (a family), and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this because they make me feel a part of the family.”
