A new movie is on the way, and it has quite the early cast and crew behind it.
The movie is titled Air, and will feature The Walking Dead and Boondock Saints star Norman Reedus and two-time Oscar nominated Gladiator, In America, and Blood Diamond star Djimon Hounsou. Walking Dead comic creator Robert Kirkman will produce.
Air comes from first-time director Christian Cantamessa, who also penned the script with Chris Pasetto. And while those names might not be familiar at first, anyone who plays video games should recognize some of their work. Cantamessa was a writer on the hugely popular Rockstar Games title Red Dead Redemption and was also a level designer on Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. He also worked as a writer on the highly anticipated upcoming game Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Pasetto has had jobs at Interplay, Rockstar, and now High Moon Studios.
If you weren’t yet at least a little intrigued, the movie, which was formerly known as Wake Cycle, is of the sci-fi and post-apocalyptic variety, which is always a plus. The thriller is set in a world where nuclear fallout has made the air unbreathable.
Reedus and Hounsou play a pair of employees of an underground cryogenic facility, where they are tasked with taking care of all of the important folks who will one day wake up and hopefully restart the human race. Unfortunately for them, maintaining the most important facility in human history can cause a man to go insane, and they find themselves struggling to keep a firm grasp on reality.
No release window is known for Air yet.
