This week belongs to the Guardians of the Galaxy. This “bunch of a-holes” has pretty much stolen the spotlight from any sort of comic book movie news to hit the web. So after the trailer, the massive image gallery, the Bradley Cooper reveal, the character introductory videos, the party still isn’t over. There is still one more piece of marketing material left: the official poster.
A lot of posters put out by studios can’t even hold a candle to what Drew Struzan has come up with or the things that Mondo puts out, but the first poster for Guardians of the Galaxy is impressive for something from a studio. No floating heads, no spoilery tagline, no backs turned to us, no butt shots. Simple and straightforward, with a tagline that can only fit a film like Guardians of the Galaxy. Hit the jump to check it out.
Guardians of the Galaxy‘s director James Gunn debuted this teaser poster on his official Facebook page. The film opens in the US on August 1, 2014.
An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits””Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand””with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
