Rob Zombie Returning To Horror With New Movie Akin To ‘The Devil’s Rejects’

Rob Zombie Interview

After Rob Zombie’s latest movie, The Lords of Salem, came out Zombie said that it would be “my last sort of horror-genre related film for a really long time.” That was back in May 2013.

However things seem to be taking a complete 180 degree turn to that statement via an interview Zombie just conducted in New Zealand, and reveals that he is indeed returning to horror for his next film.

Zombie states that he had been working on a hockey-related movie called Broad Street Bullies, recalling:

“I’d been working on this hockey film for over two years, it took so much research and work, and I was literally sitting with someone going, ‘You know, I have this other idea”¦'”

Zombie says he was sitting with someone at the time and blurted out a one-line pitch for this horror movie and they in turn said “we’ll make that”.

As for what that pitch was, Zombie is coy about it saying that the film is too far out to talk too much about, but does tease:

“I think it’s something fans of the other stuff will like. Probably fans of The Devil’s Rejects will enjoy the most. It’s not connected to that film but it’s more on that headspace.”

This could be interesting, as The Devil’s Rejects is often cited as Zombie’s best film and certainly has the most singular fan base. Zombie, for his entire career, has been synonymous with the horror genre whether it be through his decades of music output or movies, so it is really no surprise that despite his original comments, he would return to the genre and find producers eager and willing to back it.

You can see the entire interview and read more of Zombie’s thoughts here.
