The crew of the Ghost from the upcoming animated series Star Wars: Rebels is rounded out with the introduction of Hera, a Twi’lek who is the pilot of the shuttle and the heart of this band of rebels. Hera is an ace pilot who puts the job first and makes maneuvering the Ghost and outrunning TIE fighters look easy.
In this video introduction, which you can watch below, we get a chance to see Hera in action and meet the voice behind her, Vanessa Marshall.
Like the rest of the crew, including Kanan, Ezra, Sabine and Zeb, Hera has her reasons for turning against the Empire and joining the Rebellion, which we will learn about as the show progresses. That progression is part of the charm of voicing the character for Marshall, who notes:
I am breathless with anticipation. I cannot wait to read what’s next because I want to see where we’re going, too.
It’s nice to see an actor just as enthusiastic and invested in the show as the fans she hopes to connect with, as that will definitely show in her performance. Meanwhile, Joel Aron, the CG Supervisor of the show, adds his own thoughts to the core of Hera’s character as she interacts with the crew:
She knows how to talk to them to get the best out of themselves and to be part of that team. That to me is the commander of a ship.
We’ll see more of Hera, and everyone on Ghost, when Star Wars: Rebels debuts later this Fall!
