Star Wars Tatooine

Nothing is officially confirmed yet, but it’s been expected for a while now that the Skywalker family will play a part in Star Wars: Episode VII. So it should come as no surprise that the movie will bring us back to the planet Tatooine.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director J.J. Abrams and Disney are planning an “extensive re-creation” of the home of Luke and Anakin Skywalker in a “Morocco-like environment.”

The original Tatooine was filmed in Tunisia, which is a little under 1,000 miles east of Morocco.

Again, nothing official has been confirmed so it’s unclear how the location will come into play exactly, but it’s easy to venture some guesses as to why it’s being used.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be released on December 18, 2015.
