It looks like another movie based on an Ubisoft video game franchise has found itself a director. It’s being reported that Justin Kurzel has entered into negotiations to direct Assassin’s Creed.
Producing and starring is Michael Fassbender, who will play a bartender who is kidnapped by a secret organization and put into a machine called the Animus that allows him to enter the minds of his ancestors, a line of great assassins, in hopes of learning the locations of various artifacts.
Fassbender and Kurzel have worked together in the past just recently in Kurzel’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Macbeth, which is currently in post-production and set to be released in 2015. The director’s other credits include The Snowtown Murders and a segment of The Turning, a collection of short films.
The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman recently signed on for another Ubisoft game adaptation, Splinter Cell, which is set to star Tom Hardy.
