It’s something the fans have been hoping for and now it might be a reality — Maisie Williams, the young actress who stars on TV’s Game of Thrones as Arya Stark, is in talks to play the role of Ellie in the film adaptation of the popular video game The Last of Us.
The news was revealed today at San Diego Comic-Con during the Screen Gems panels with the filmmakers, producer Sam Raimi and creative director/screenwriter Neil Druckmann, who encouraged the packed Hall H audience to give Williams their approval later today when the actress appears in the hall for the Game of Thrones panel.

Druckmann made it clear that no one has been cast in the role of Ellie yet, but the crowd here at Hall H responded favorably to the choice of Williams and the filmmakers really seem to want the actress to play the role. We’ll see what happens in a few hours when Williams takes the stage for Game Of Thrones — someone is bound to ask her about this.
The game is set in a United States devastated by a Cordyceps outbreak that turns anyone infected by it highly aggressive and deformed. It follows a man named Joel as he tries to get a young girl named Ellie across the country from Boston and into the hands of a group known as the Fireflies.
The Screen Gems panel is still underway, so we’ll have more information about The Last of Us film adaptation soon.
