One of the last major castings left to be announced for Disney’s upcoming live-action/CG-animated hybrid retelling of The Jungle Book has finally been revealed.
It’s being reported that none other than Bill Murray will take on the role of Baloo, the lovable bear and friend to the man-cub Mowgli.
Murray joins a cast that includes Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Scarlett Johansson and Lupita Nyong’o as Kaa and Raksha, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Neel Sethi as Mowgli, and, most recently cast, Christopher Walken and Giancarlo Esposito as King Louie and Akela.
The movie will be directed by Jon Favreau, and will be released on October 9, 2015.
The news of Murray’s casting comes right after Warner Brothers announced an October 21, 2016 release date for their own adaptation of The Jungle Book, which will be directed by Lord of the Rings and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes star Andy Serkis.
