The Weinstein Company recently released the trailer for their upcoming film, The Imitation Game, which is based on the true story of Alan Turing (played Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch), a mathematician/cryptologist enlisted by the Allied forces during World War II to crack the German Enigma Code.

The Imitation Game, which will arrive in theaters on November 21, 2014, is directed by Morten Tyldum, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Charles Dance, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear, Allen Leech, and Matthew Beard.

One viewing of the trailer should convince you not to pass up on this movie. Cumberbatch is at his usual best as Turing, who was a pioneer in computer science and it was his work deciphering intercepted coded Nazi communications that helped win several battles during World War II. Judging from what is presented in the trailer, Cumberbatch undoubtedly gives an award-winning performance in this tense drama. Knightley seems like she’ll do justice to Turing’s friend and fellow code-breaker Joan Clarke, who we see in the trailer is smart as a whip. And let’s not skip over Charles Dance, who has wowed audiences with his role as puppetmaster Tywin Lannister on HBO’s Game Of Thrones, who appears in The Imitation Game as Cdr. Alastair Denniston, the head of the Government Code and Cypher School where Turing and his colleagues worked. Throw in Mark Strong (Sherlock Holmes, John Carter) and Matthew Goode (Watchmen, Stoker), and you have a great cast for a British drama that’s sure to please audiences. I’m definitely looking forward to The Imitation Game.
