Disney In Depth banner

We Star Wars aficionados grab onto anything related to this expansive universe whenever possible. Since Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, more and more items involving Star Wars have begun popping up online. Disney Store has been leading the way in offering an assortment of merchandise that will make you want to exhibit your fervor even further.

Here are 10 of my picks as must-have Star Wars products for not only you, but also potentially members of your Star Wars family.

Note: Prices and products reflective of Disney Store online, as of Aug. 21, 2014. Product pictures come from the Disney Store website.

Darth Vader sweatshirt

Darth Vader Hooded Tee for Boys (Disney Store, $22.95)

Feel the power of the Dark Side when a little boy (or girl) in your life can adorn the Sith Lord. This neat sweatshirt can make him look like Darth Vader, but more importantly, give him the confidence to walk around imitating James Earl Jones‘ iconic voice. At just over $20, this piece of attire worth wearing during any cool weather is affordable and appealing. Why not instill the love of all things Star Wars from a young age by making the characters literally inescapable?

Taun Taun Plush – Star Wars – Medium – 15 (Disney Store, $19.95)

Star Wars Taun Taun Plush

For the kid and for the kid at heart, Hoth’s resident furry creature makes for the perfect plush. Whether you want to give this to a child or have the Taun Taun lay on your bed or Star Wars-themed shelf, this stuffed animal can make a bold statement. Just don’t think you can ride on this – you would need a life-sized version for that to be even a remote possibility. Add a Wampa plush from Disney Store into the mix for an authentic Hoth plush collection. But you may need to search more extensively for an AT-AT plush if you want to make your set undeniably complete.

Star Wars Sweatshirt for Boys – Personalizable (Disney Store, $19.95)

Star Wars Jedi Knight Sweatshirt

Close your eyes and imagine the openings of any of the unforgettable Star Wars films. The receding text against a space background can transport us to another time. That imagery is as connected to Star Wars as any of the characters that occupy the universe. That is the intention of this kids’ sweatshirt, which makes the child the real “star.” This personalized sweatshirt proves neat in that it allows the kid to have his/her name attached to the universe, so to speak. Another bonus is the variety of sizes.

Chewbacca Mug – Star Wars (Disney Store, $14.95)

Star Wars Chewbacca Mug

Forget about those “Wookiee Nights” and start off your day by drinking your morning coffee, tea, or other beverage in this mug modeling Han Solo’s best buddy. The Chewbacca mug holds a good 20 ounces, and its neat design, low cost, and overall “coolness” make a purchase absolutely necessary for anybody who wishes to growl like the Wookiee. Of course, you must wait to growl until you first take a few sips from the themed mug. My best suggestion of what to fill your mug with: blue milk. Yum! Otherwise, you might want to consider some Membrosia, though any Star Wars spirit may be challenging to consume early in the day.

Star Wars Yoda Journal

Yoda Journal – Star Wars (Disney Store, $14.95)

Buy this, you must. Yoda is full of inspired, if not somewhat reversed lines. Think of some sayings that may raise some eyebrows in this journal formed in the shape of the green Jedi master’s head. It contains roughly 200 pages, so you have plenty of paper to jot down important and inspirational notes. If you run out of ideas, refer to Star Wars quotes as a start. There’s enough to choose from that it won’t be hard to begin the writing process. Compose something thoughtful, you most certainly will.

Star Wars Wampa Hat

Wampa Hat – Star Wars (Disney Store, $34.95)

Though this hat in the shape of the vicious Hoth monster may be slightly overpriced, you must stay warm during the winter months. Why not keep your head toasty while having a Star Wars beast greeting everyone? You’re sure to garner some glaring looks and quizzical expressions, but this nod to Empire Strikes Back is hard to resist. Luckily nothing icky will ooze from the body of the Wampa – well, as long as you do not have any hair gel or spray sliding down your hair.

Star Wars Collectible Figures (Disney Store, $14.95)

Star Wars Collectible Figures

You’re never too old to play with action figures, right? This set of eight, including an Ewok and Boba Fett, may be fewer than four-and-a-half inches tall, but what they lack in size they make up for in fun. This is a steal at roughly $2 per figure and the assortment lends for hours of creative fun — or, at the very least, years of showcasing on shelves. I recommend purchasing two sets. One will serve the purpose of play, whereas the other can be saved as a valuable item that may increase in value in the future.

Star Wars R2-D2 Football

R2-D2 Mini Football (Disney Store, $9.95)

Not all toys should be limited for the household, though. Get some fresh air and enjoy “kicking it” with Luke Skywalker’s favorite droid. The R2-D2 style and patterns are reflected on this mini football. At $10, if you need your Star Wars fix and don’t want to spend the money for an expensive gadget or apparel, this is a good way to fulfill droid desires. Try not to kick the little guy too hard or you may need to stitch up the helpful robot.

Darth Vader Rolling Luggage – Star Wars (Disney Store, $39.95)

Star Wars Darth Vader Baggage

If only “The Imperial March” played as you rolled this piece of luggage would it be the best piece of travel gear possible. But at $40, this 17″ tall luggage with the face of Darth Vader’s helmet deems pretty awesome. As you pull the luggage the wheels light up an eerie red. Don’t be surprised if you’re stopped at the airport or train station when traveling with Vader. Just make sure nobody tries to steal this Star Wars travel accessory. Otherwise you must be compelled to call upon your pals from the Death Star.

Star Wars Boba Fett Baseball Cap

Boba Fett Baseball Cap for Adults (Disney Store, $24.95)

The next time you head out the door for a baseball game – or, more likely, a Star Wars fan convention – show off your Boba Fett pride by wearing this cap that resembles the bounty hunter’s helmet. Buying this Star Wars baseball cap is an easy way to show off your pride of the villain without going over the top. Then again, you can mix and match, by throwing on this cap, a flashy shirt and a Yoda backpack. It’s your choice.
