The face of Subway, Jared Fogel, and members of the Boys & Girls Club of Bridgeport, CT, (home of the first Subway ever) joined some Star Wars Stormtroopers who happened to be in the neighborhood, to celebrate twofold on Thursday, August 28, 2014, in New York City. It’s Subway’s 49th birthday this year, so they brought some of their friends from the Club where they started to promote Disney XD’s new Star Wars: Rebels series.

For the months of September and October, fans can stop into SUBWAY to receive a special Star Wars: Rebel bag, free with every kids meal purchase!

Thirty years ago, I was a rambunctious 2-year-old who only knew Sesame Street and PBS. Thirty years later, I’m a crazed movie geek with an overflowing DVD collection who spouts movie lines at will. One of the quintessential films that my friends and I grew up watching, re-watching, and quoting was Ghostbusters, Ivan Reitman‘s comedy of bungling scientists and real-life spooks in NYC. Imagine the euphoria upon finding that we thirtysomethings now have a chance to view one of our favorites in theaters for the first time!

To commemorate the 30-year anniversary of its debut in the Summer of 1984, Ghostbusters is back in theaters starting today for ONE WEEK ONLY! Who you gonna call?

Back in 1995 the great Stan Lee had a small role as himself in director Kevin Smith‘s second feature film, Mallrats. Now the duo have reunited for Smith’s latest effort, Yoga Hosers.

The movie is the second in Smith’s True North trilogy of movies inspired by the myths and culture of Canada, the first installment being the soon-to-be-released Tusk.

We got a glimpse at Seventh Son back in July 2013 at SDCC when the film was supposed to be released the following January. That didn’t happen, for various reasons, but now Legendary Pictures has released a new trailer, poster, and photos for the movie.

Loosely based on The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch (the U.S. title), the first book in Joseph Delaney’s The Wardstone Chronicles series of novels, the Sergei Bodrov-directed fantasy-adventure stars Jeff Bridges, Ben Barnes, Julianne Moore, Djimon Hounsou, and Kit Harrington (the Game Of Thrones star didn’t make in on to the poster). Seventh Son is now scheduled for a release in 3D and IMAX 3D on February 6, 2015, with Legendary’s new partner Universal Pictures as the distributor.

You know, it’s pretty damn hard to defend Ruggero Deodato‘s 1980 Italian adventure-horror film, Cannibal Holocaust. There are some truly distressing and repulsive images the director has created to get his point across. There is, however, an underlying message to the film, if you’re able to get past the often unwatchable acts on-screen.

Yes, this is an exploitation film – perhaps the most controversial exploitation film of all time – but it also works as a social commentary on modern civilization and what it means to be “civilized.” Gratuitous scenes of sexual violence and animal cruelty make Cannibal Holocaust hard to stomach, but the most disturbing aspects of the film is what Deodato is saying about modern society, specifically Western culture.
