Justice League

Warner Bros. is making some really huge announcements regarding their DC Comics film release dates. We are now learning that the Suicide Squad will be the first film post Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice coming in 2016. In 2017, we will see a solo Wonder Woman film and Justice League. Ezra Miller has been cast as The Flash, which hits theaters in 2018. Aquaman starring Jason Momoa also hits theaters in 2018. Finally, Shazam starring Dwayne Johnson as well as Justice League 2 will be released in 2019.

Titles without release dates include Cyborg, starring Ray Fisher, and a new Green Lantern movie, plus solo Superman and Batman films. (Updated below with dates.) Hit the jump to learn more.

Ben Fritz of the Wall Street Journal has been covering the breaking news as of late. Here are just some of the bits of news he has been posting on Twitter:

As you can see, it has been confirmed that Ezra Miller will be joining the world of DC as The Flash. The film will be released in 2018, the same year that Aquaman will hit theaters.

WB is doing what they can to separate their TV universe from their Cinematic one. Arrow had already introduced the Suicide Squad last season, and this year saw the successful relaunch of The Flash. While the Suicide Squad episode in Arrow was a small one, it should be interesting to see how a big feature film surrounding villains works out. But seeing as we will be getting The Flash in 2018, and the hit that The Flash TV show has become, I’m sure audiences will be able to tell which character belongs in which universe given the four-year gap.

But Miller is an interesting choice. He is best known for his much darker roles, and has been in films like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and We Need To Talk About Kevin. As to whether Miller will be playing Barry Allen or Wally West, that remains to be seen.

A lot of these are tentative titles, so we should not assume that these are the confirmed ones. But as of right now, it looks like this is Warner Bros.’ DC film slate. What do you guys think?

So, the DC Shared Universe Films are:

– Man of Steel (2013)
– Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016),
– Suicide Squad (2016)
– Wonder Woman (2017)
– The Flash (2018)
– Aquaman (2018)
– Shazam (2019)
– Cyborg (2020)
– a Green Lantern reboot film (2020)
– Justice League Part One releasing (2017)
– Justice League Part Two (2019)

  1. Whew…Ezra Miller though. For I second, I thought he was the kid from that Spectacular Now movie.
