There is nothing more exciting than a Coen Brothers‘ film. It has only been a year since their critically acclaimed hit Inside Llewyn Davis opened in theaters, but the siblings are at it again with Hail, Caesar! No the film isn’t exactly going to be a biopic of the Roman leader; instead it’s the final installment of the Idiot Trilogy, which began with O, Brother Where Art Thou? and continued with Intolerable Cruelty.
Now Universal Pictures has released the official synopsis for Hail, Caesar!, as well as announced the release date for the 2016 film. Yes, we will have to wait another year and a few months before we get to see a Coen Brothers’ film, which has a stellar cast. Hit the jump for the full cast and synopsis.
Synopsis:
Four-time Oscar®-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, True Grit,Fargo) write and direct HAIL, CAESAR!, an all-star comedy set during the latter years of Hollywood’s Golden Age. Starring Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Channing Tatum, Scarlett Johansson, and Jonah Hill, HAIL, CAESAR! follows a single day in the life of a studio fixer who is presented with plenty of problems to fix. The comedy is produced by the Coen brothers under their Mike Zoss Productions banner, with Working Title Films and Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan.
That’s quite a cast, and it seems quite fitting to have those names in a film about a fixer who keeps Hollywood stars in line.
IndieWire also reveals that Hail, Caesar! is scheduled for a February 5, 2016 release. Meaning that it will most likely go through the awards circuit and be screened at film festivals like Toronto International Film Festival.
