It’s always been assumed that if Fox ever decided to move forward with a Deadpool movie Ryan Reynolds, who played the character in their X-Men Origins: Wolverine, would return to star in the title role.
Well, Deadpool was made official in September, and comic creator Rob Liefield made it clear last month that the movie is happening because of Reynolds. All that was left was confirmation, and today comes word that Reynolds is closing his deal with Fox to become the Merc with the Mouth once again. The actor also sent out a hint that things were official on the Twitter, which you can see below.
Deadpool will be directed by Tim Miller, who’s been developing the project for a few years now and made that popular test footage we saw finally released recently.
The script is written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and production is expected to begin in March.
What story the movie will tell is not yet known; all we do know is that Deadpool will be set in the same universe as the X-Men movies, which of course makes sense.
Now the big question that looms overhead is…what rating will the movie get?

Hopefully R rated…but, as long as DP be shootin’ his mouth off while shootin’ his guns off; and there’s lots of great references and 4th wall breaking from the only character in comics to know he’s in a comic. Then I’ll be happy.
