If there is a theme to this week’s edition of The Digital Wire – and I always try to find at least one – it must be blood. The four big new release announcements of the week share plenty of the warm red stuff that gives life. Blood is spilled, drank, and exploited for fun and profit in vast quantities. Whether it be in digitally enhanced, kid-friendly PG-13 form or in relentless and brutal hard-R form, that which is thicker than water (and much tastier as a barbecue ingredient, or so I’m told) is all over these upcoming releases.
Below you’ll find info on several future home video releases complete with technical specs, release dates, and links to pre-order at Amazon. We would greatly appreciate it if you use those links to order because a small percentage of each order helps keep this website running at max power. The cover art for certain titles has yet to be finalized.
Three years ago Twilight Time issued a limited edition Blu-ray of Tom Holland‘s 1985 horror-comedy classic Fright Night timed to the release of the remake. That disc’s 3,000-copy print run sold out fast and became a collector’s item with sealed copies fetching high prices on eBay and Amazon. On January 20, 2015 the original will return to Blu-ray from the same company in a snazzy 30th Anniversary Edition that will include these new bonus features:
– Isolated Score Track
– Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Tom Holland, Actors Chris Sarandon & Jonathan Stark, and Moderated by Filmmaker Tim Sullivan
– Audio Commentary with Writer/Director Tom Holland, Actors William Ragsdale & Stephen Geoffreys, FX Artist Randall Cook, and Moderated by Journalist Jeremy Smith and Filmmaker Tim Sullivan
– First Ever Fright Night Reunion Panel – Fear Fest 2 (2008) with Tom Holland, Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Stephen Geoffreys, Amanda Bearse, Jonathan Stark, and Moderated by Rob Galluzzo
– Shock Till You Drop Presents Choice Cuts with Tom Holland and Ryan Turek
– Vintage EPK with Behind The Scenes Raw Footage
– Stills and Memorabilia Gallery from the Tom Holland Archives
– Original Theatrical Trailer
