President Barack Obama made an appearance yesterday on The Colbert Report where the U.S. prez took over “The Word” segment of the show, rebranding it “The Decree.” Just before the President took Stephen Colbert‘s seat behind the desk, he told the host, “You’ve been taking a lot of shots at my job, I decided I’m gonna go ahead and take a shot at yours.”
In the segment, Obama took on his “Obamacare” healthcare detractors, reading off the script as if he were Colbert, to humorous effect.

Afterward “The Decree” portion of the program, Colbert sat down and interviewed the President for a more serious discussion, which of course, was quite humorous too.
The Colbert Report tapes in New York City, but this episode was filmed in Washington, D.C., for this special event dubbed “Mr. Colbert Goes to Washington.” This is to be one of the final installments of the Comedy Central staple, as Colbert will be moving to CBS to host The Late Show from departing long-time host David Letterman, who is retiring. With Colbert’s exit from the network and the end of The Colbert Report comes also the retiring of his “Stephen Colbert” mock political pundit character. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will begin airing on CBS in 2015.
