Hot off reprising his role as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens, Mark Hamill is set to play a slightly lesser known role he played once upon a time a long, long time ago.
It’s being reported that Hamill is set to play James Jesse, better known as the villain Trickster, in CW’s The Flash, the very same role he played in the ’90s Flash TV series. You can see a video of Hamill playing Trickster below.
The CW has made it a point to cast those involved in the ’90s series for the new version, including the actor who played Flash back then, John Wesley Shipp, who plays the new Flash’s (Grant Gustin) father.
Hamill will appear as the character in the 17th episode of the season, which will air at some point in 2015.
Here’s a description of the character:
“Mark Hamill returns in a brand new interpretation of James Jesse (aka The Trickster), a role he originated on the 90’s ‘Flash’ series. In this new iteration, The Trickster is an anarchist terrorist con man serving a life sentence in Iron Heights who helps Barry (Grant Gustin) and Det. West (Jesse L. Martin) to foil the city-wide attacks of a wannabe Trickster eagerly following in the original’s deadly footsteps. The episode will reunite him with John Wesley Shipp who went up against him as the original ‘Flash’ on the CBS version.”
Hamill would go one to become one of the most popular actors to bring the Batman villain Joker to life via his voice on numerous occasions. If you listen closely in the video below, you might just pick up a hint of Joker from time to time.
