The first image from Hellboy and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro‘s much-anticipated upcoming gothic horror flick Crimson Peak has found its way online.
The image is simple, showing star Jessica Chastain in costume standing on some stairs, but it gives you a good idea of the style of the movie and that’s something that will be exciting for fans of the horror genre. Del Toro has described the movie as much closer to his Spanish-language films such as The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth—arguably his two best works to date—something he hasn’t been able to do in his English-language titles.

SYNOPSIS:
In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds”¦and remembers. A haunting gothic horror story directed by the master of dark fairy tales, Guillermo del Toro, written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins and starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam.
If you missed it, del Toro gave Geeks of Doom a personal tour of the Crimson Peak exhibit at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 a few months back, which also offers a great look at the style of the movie.
The movie will be released on October 16, 2015.
