It’s homecoming at McKinley High, which means many of our faves that made the original class so appealing are coming back to rile up some support for the glee club revival. The only thing is….once again…as in the first year, no one wants to join. Can Kurt and Rachel (Chris Colfer and Lea Michele) revive some Shue magic?
From the FOX press release:
More beloved members of the original glee club – Puck (Mark Salling), Quinn (Diana Agron), Santana (Naya Rivera), Mercedes (Amber Riley), Brittany (Heather Morris), Artie (Kevin McHale) and Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) – all return to McKinley for Homecoming and help Rachel and Kurt recruit members for the new glee club in the all-new “Homecoming” Season Premiere, Part Two episode of GLEE airing Friday, Jan. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
This episode continues with the usual Glee formula: misfit problems, Sue antagonism, a love triangle, and a group-sing at the end. Don’t forget your slushie!
Fun moment: Brittney (Heather Morris) gives Blaine advice since he’s giving up his dream as a “Barbara Bush impersonator.” Love her and her unintentional zingers!
The songs:
“Take on Me” (A-Ha) sung in the lunchroom by the old gang. See below for the really fun video that uses the same wowing special effects (well-wowing for the 80s) as the original.
“Tightrope” (Janelle Monae) is Jane’s (Samantha Ware) Warblers audition. They all jump in. I didn’t think it was possible for the Warblers to be more musically magical.
“Problem” (Ariana Grande ft Iggy Azalea) performed by Quinn, Brittney, and Santana (Diana Agron, Heather Morris, and Naya Rivera) in tiny cheerleader outfits. “Sex sells.” Look out! Kitty (Becca Tobin) is back and the claws are out!
“Mustang Sally” (Wilson Pickett) sung by new glee club member Roderick (Noah Guthrie) with a surprisingly bluesy voice. Santana, Brittney, and Quinn run up mid-audition and provide the “Ride, Sally, Ride” backup.
“Home” (Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zero) is the big group sing at the end with the requisite vignettes after a Glee group hug with the four newest members: the McCarthy siblings, Jane (causing Blaine to declare Glee war), and Roderick.
