The Friday the 13th video game fans of the horror series have always wanted may just be coming in the near future.
It’s being reported that a new game based on the franchise is on the way, and it will be similar in style to the upcoming four-on-one multiplayer game Evolve. That is, four people will play as a variety of teenagers, while one player takes control of the legendary slasher himself, Jason Voorhees.

Of the game, original Friday the 13th director Sean S. Cunningham had this to say:
“With a new television series on the horizon and plans announced for the thirteenth installment of the film franchise, we felt the timing was right to finally explore Jason, Camp Crystal Lake, and the rest of the Friday the 13th story in interactive form. We have some exciting new ideas for a game that supplies plenty of replay value, while delivering the kinds of thrills and scares that fans of the franchise have come to expect.”
Cunningham says that an experienced game developer is working on the project, though no names are given.
The report also says the game is aiming at an October 2015 release, which seems like a very unlikely scenario unless they’ve been working on it for some time now.
